 Inner Hope Cove

THE AREA

The Old Guard offers a very relaxed vibe, which is just perfect for a wind-down winter weekend or family summer holiday escape in South Devon. Whatever season you choose to visit, The Old Guard in Inner Hope offers something special all year round.

The pretty coastal village of Hope Cove is spectacularly nestled within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the stunning stretch of South Hams coastline that runs between the Salcombe Estuary to the East, past Thurlestone & South Milton Sands to the West to Bigbury, Bantham and Burgh Island.

Inner Hope is a 5 minute walk to Outer Hope Cove where there are three vibrant eateries; the Hope and Anchor Pub, the Lobster Pod Bistro which is in a prime spot overlooking harbour beach and the award winning ‘The Cove Bar & Restaurant’.

Getting Here (TQ7 3HW)

By Road

Take the A38 dual carriageway from Exeter. At Buckfastleigh turn left for Totnes along the A384. Just prior to entering Totnes turn right, picking up the A381 to Kingsbridge.

Continue past Kingsbridge (not into it) and follow the A381 towards Salcombe.

Hope Cove is signposted along this road first for light vehicles only, we suggest you take the second turning (sharp right) at the village of Malborough. After passing the church, make sure you turn right past the cream cottage.

Continue into Hope Cove then turn left for Inner Hope. Follow the road to Inner Hope until you reach the sea wall. You will see the iconic, cream thatched cottage, Spray Cottage on your left. Turn left behind the cottage along the gravel lane. The Old Guard is the first driveway on your right.

Please note, the entrance is a little tight and requires a little manoeuvring. We comfortably get our VW transporter into the driveway, it just needs a bit of care and attention. There is a small amount of free parking on the road below the house if the driveway entrance is too tight for your vehicle.
